"All of my experiences at NIU define who I am today! I would never trade my experiences at NIU for anything." –Cristine Estrada '13
Cristine Estrada knows exactly what to do with the generous support she's received from donors because difficult financial times have taught her how to "do without."
In 2003, Cristine and her family left the Philippines to come to the United States in search of a brighter future. That life-changing move cost them most of what they had, which motivated Cristine to strive for financial stability for herself and her family.
As the first in her family to attend college, Cristine plans to earn her master's degree and become a CPA. Her hard work and determination have earned her a place on the dean's list and in the honors program.
She is thankful for the opportunities she's received including being awarded the Randall N. Beck Memorial Scholarship: "I have learned so many things in and out of the classroom. And for that, I will always love being a Huskie!"
